Harold Lukefahr – Flight 1

Harold was born on January 22, 1925 in Greeley, Nebraska to the late Edgar L. and Elsie Waugh Lukefahr. Harold was one of eight children. The family moved to Bay City when Harold was 14. He was a WWII veteran and served in the U. S. Naval Armed Guard. He began working for Skelly Oil Company where he remained for 42 years. Harold and his wife Polly married in 1950 and became the loving parents of three children. Harold was active in his community. He coached the Holy Cross Eagles football team. He was an active parent in the 4H Club. Harold also served on the Matagorda Co. Fair & Livestock Committee and the Matagorda Co. Soil and Water Conservation boards. Harold was a member of the Texas Armed Guard Association and hosted the 2013 reunion. After his retirement, he started a turf farm where he spent many happy hours riding his tractor. Harold eventually added a grape vineyard. He worked with Texas A & M to determine which grape varieties were viable in Southeast Texas.
